ADVANCED SOLUTIONS FOR THE CONSERVATION AND VALORISATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

MONTEVERDE-RAVELLO October 19-24th 2025

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Course, organized by the European University Centre for Cultural Heritage in collaboration with the University of Salento and the PA Foundation, is aimed at graduates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree who wish to deepen their understanding of the role of new enabling technologies in the management of cultural heritage and, more specifically, in the knowledge, conservation, and enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural resources.

The course includes both a theoretical and a practical component and will take place in one of the villages belonging to the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” network, as the practical component will involve the use of new enabling technologies in a cultural heritage enhancement plan for the village.

The presentation of the plan developed by the course participants will be held in Ravello during the twentieth edition of Ravello Lab, international talks on cultural heritage. Lectures will be given by professors from the University of Salento and by other experts from research institutions and companies specialized in cultural heritage technologies.

PROJECT BENEFICIAIRIES

Direct beneficiaries – The training program targets young graduates (under 35 years of age) residing in municipalities that are part of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy” network and interested in deepening their knowledge of new technologies for the conservation and enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The goal is to equip them to support public institutions and private companies operating in the cultural heritage sector and seeking to integrate these technologies into heritage management. These professionals are seen as key players in fostering technological innovation in the cultural sector, promoting tourism-oriented enhancement of local attractions, and contributing to the territorial development of areas—such as inland municipalities—that are often excluded from innovation flows and risk increasing economic marginalization.

Indirect beneficiaries – As a result, the indirect beneficiaries are the municipalities of mainland Southern Italy that are part of the “Most Beautiful Villages of Italy” network. These municipalities will be responsible for selecting, among their residents, young graduates interested in attending the course. Furthermore, during the practical sessions of the course, participants will be asked to develop an innovation project focused on enhancing the cultural heritage of their own municipality, thereby creating a proposal that supports local tourism development.
