Tech4Heritage Summer School Explores Digital Innovation for Cultural Heritage

The Tech4Heritage Summer School, held from October 20–25, 2025 in Monteverde and Ravello, brought together students and experts to examine how emerging technologies can transform the protection and promotion of cultural heritage. Funded by the PA Foundation, the initiative combined academic lectures with hands-on workshops, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.

Across four days in Monteverde, participants engaged with specialists from the University of Salento on topics including artificial intelligence, extended reality, digital twins, human–computer interaction, data analysis, 3D modelling, photogrammetry and digital storytelling. Students experimented directly with tools such as machine-learning platforms, Blender, ThingLink, and the VATE smart-access cultural heritage app.

The program concluded at the Ravello Lab 2025 forum, dedicated to “Tourism and Culture for Place Regeneration.” Students presented the results of their fieldwork within a panel on Italy’s small villages and inland areas, contributing to discussions on strategies for revitalizing local heritage and enhancing cultural tourism. The forum ended with panel chairs delivering final recommendations for policymakers and cultural stakeholders.
